After this out of the way, let’s dive into today’s topic, creating awesome wall art mockups with Midjourney.
In this part we will go over the basic tasks like templates to use, creating wall art mockups with those templates and limitations of Midjourney you’ll face.
[Frame Style] + [Room Type] + [Room Color] + [Furniture] + [Interior Theme]
Here are the details of what these mean and how you can use them with some examples for better understanding.
Frame style means what color and texture the frame of the wall art should be. Like –
In this place, you’ll say where you want your frames to put up. Like-
Quite self explanatory. Just remember the room color and frame style should compliment each other or the whole thing will look odd.
Write down the furniture names you want in your mockups. Like a couch, coffee tables, bookshelves etc.
This is a very important part of the template. By giving commands like-
Midjourney will wrap up all the previous commands and generate an image with previous entries in the style you choose here.
Let’s try out the template with a sample prompt and see how good it can work.
Prompt: create an empty rectangle frame mockup in oak wood, placed in a neutral color living room, the living room has a couch and a coffee table, the room also has minimal interior theme
PS: Your prompt doesn’t have to be a proper English sentence. You can break your ideas into half sentences or any way that Midjourney can understand.
The output –
Midjourney doesn’t always follow your instructions as you wish. Like in this picture, the first image has a square frame instead of rectangular and there are plants in all images, although we didn’t ask for them.
So, let’s use a functionality of Midjourney called “Remix Mode” in the setting.
In “Remix Mode”, you can tweak the prompt a little to change some specific parts or add more parts.
Let’s do a test and edit the previous prompt to see how different an image we can generate.

The output –
As you can see, Midjourney doesn’t follow the instructions to the point and may add or subtract things in the generated image.
So you just play around with “Version” functionality and make different versions of the image you like and get four more images generated. Keep doing it till you are satisfied and use the “Upscale” function on the image you like, then download.
Our tutorial is quite detailed but still it can only get you so far. You’ll have to keep practicing and experimenting to utilize the full power of Midjourney.
The easiest way to get a head start will be to see what the pro’s are already doing and experimenting on them or using them as is.
On your Midjourney account, you’ll get an explore option where you can check what the community is building.
Just type “Wall Art Mockup” on the search bar and you’ll get to check out thousands of awesome and unique looking Wall Art mockups that other people have already made.
The best part?
People who have made one or two wall art mockups, likely made a lot more. Especially the ones that look good most probably came after a lot of practicing from the maker.
So if you check the account of these people, you’ll likely get a thousand more awesome wall art mockups and if you’re lucky, you might get to check someone’s account who has cracked the code of making constant characters.
You can use the mockups as is or get the prompts and tweak it a bit more to make it truly your own.
If you’re not happy even with thousands of options available in the explore option and got your eyes stuck on any particular mockup from another site, Midjourney has a function/setting named “/describe” that can help.
Just go to Etsy or Placeit, take a screenshot of any mockup you like and Midjourney will give you the prompts that can help you generate similar images.
Like we had taken this screenshot of a mockup we liked.
The way it works is, instead of using “/imagine” at the beginning, use “/describe” and it will give you a window to upload an image from your computer.
Upload the screenshot you just captured and voila!
Midjourney will give you 4 prompts to generate images similar to that image. We used a prompt that we got from the screenshot above and got these results.
Pretty sweet right?
Disclaimer: The images you want to upload must be in JPEG or Png format for it to work.
Midjourny has a function where you can upload an image as a reference and input prompts to customize the reference.
If you click on the plus button on the prompt area, you’ll get an option to upload an image.
For our example, we will be uploading this image.
After uploading is done, click on the image to open. Then right click to “copy link”.
After this, do the usual prompting.
/imagine + paste the copied link + your prompt
In our case, we wrote “create empty frame mockup with blue furniture and curtains” and got the below image as result.
Not what we were expecting but I hope you got the idea of how this process is done. Keep experimenting with the prompts till you find something that you like.
While creating wall art mockups with Midjourney, we came across two limitations that you have to solve to make your generated images useful.
So here we go.
As we have al;ready seen multiple times, Midjourney doesn’t follow our prompts exactly. Still the generated images are usually good enough to be usable and we can just ignore this issue.
But what happens when you MUST have an element in the generated image and Midjourney is not following that?
Let’s check this with an example.
Let’s put on a prompt following our template.
Prompt: create an empty rectangle frame mockup in oak wood, centered spaced in a neutral color bedroom, the bedroom has a cozy bed and a wardrobe, the room has a coastal interior design theme.
The generated image:
As you can see, the wardrobe is not placed in the image. This can happen with any element and if that element is crucial for you, the whole process can just become a big waste of time.
But don’t worry.
We found an easy solution that can fix this major issue. We just have to edit the prompt a bit, in a weird way.
Use the remix functionality and tweak the prompt like this.
Tweaked Prompt: create an empty rectangle frame mockup in oak wood, centered spaced in a neutral color bedroom, the bedroom has a cozy bed and a wardrobe, wardrobe,wardrobe,wardrobe,wardrobe,wardrobe the room has a coastal interior design theme.
We added the word “wardrobe” a couple more times so Midjourney understands that’s an important part of the prompt and the generated image.
The result?
As you can see, the problem is fixed and the wardrobe is added. You can do this for any important element that Midjourney is missing to get the desired results.
The previous issue was a general issue and that can happen when generating anything. The fix was also straightforward.
But the Midjourney not following the aspect ratio and orientation command happens mostly when working with Wall Art.
The solution is not simple as well.
